2014-12-17_17-10-31CASM, the AIDS clinic of HOPE worldwide Ivory Coast in Abidjan, has exciting news for 2015!

HOPE worldwide Ivory Coast has received a grant from the European Union amounting to $1,250,000 to use over 2 years.

This money will be used to hire personnel (doctor, pharmacist and logistician…). It will also serve to open a maternity center and equip our laboratory. We also buy an ambulance which will be used to evacuate the emergencies to and from the Abidjan University Hospital in the event of referrals.

It is a milestone for the CASM which has opened its doors to other patients than those infected with AIDS in response to the desire of the Board to diversify the activities of this center. This also responds to the need to reduce stigmatization for those who attend the center which has specialized for more than 23 years in the care of patients of AIDS only.

As of today, nearly 9000 patients AIDS have received treatment at the CASM. Today they are 5706 AIDS patients followed at the center, including 2708 on anti-retroviral therapy. Thanks to Dr. Mark Ottenweller who established the clinic and Dr. Marc Aguirre who developed it during its early years.

Have a nice day
